The secret war in Juneau,
Alaska, exposed and embellished by Colorado author Thomas J. Aron in
his novel and ebook titled Sour Rain.
A putrid corpse bobbed
to the surface of Auke Bay north of Juneau. Where the man came from,
how he got to southeastern Alaska, and his true business there were
never determined. Even his name remained a
mystery. On that same day, a new state
prosecutor named Brian Thomas arrived in Juneau. He flew in from the
Lower 48 with credentials that were unusual for the job he had to
do. During the gloomy days and rainy nights that followed, a tidal wave of murder slammed into southeastern Alaska. The Juneau streets were bloodied and men were killed as far away as Skagway and Haines. There even was a link between the Auke Bay floater and the suspicious death of an inmate in the distant Sitka jail. An incipient criminal group definitely was involved, but were there more conspirators? Who could be trusted? That never was certain.
However, this strange new lawyer usually was in the middle of it.
